Sodar Data Display

The Sodar Data display presents numerical data on winds aloft. Measurements are made using Doppler acoustic sodars that are deployed at each of the tall tower monitoring locations on the Hanford Site. The sodar emits sound pulses and measures the reflected energy that returns from the atmosphere. This is used to estimate wind direction and wind speed at discrete heights above ground level. Measurements are made from near the surface to a height of several hundred meters above ground level.
