Charitable Giving
Giving time, money, and talent
to help others where we work and live
Battelle is a nonprofit charitable trust that operates PNNL for the Department of Energy. Giving back to the communities where Battelle employees live and work is in the company’s culture. Whether it’s through charitable giving—both from employees and Battelle corporate dollars—or the numerous hours volunteered, Battelle is making a difference.
Since 1965, Battelle has invested over $32 million in our community, including $12 million in philanthropic giving to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the Pacific Northwest. Annually, Battelle invests more than $500,000 to the community, with more than 65 percent going toward the advancement of STEM Education. We also invest in the arts and culture, as well as health and human services programs that are important to our community.
Through volunteering, Battelle’s PNNL-based staff generously give hours of their own time to share science, talent, and goodwill. They also contribute monetarily to support causes that have an impact on their neighborhoods, cities, and regions.
Commencing in the fall of 2024, Battelle and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s funding cycle for Battelle philanthropic requests will open on October 1 and close on January 31 each year. We will continue to consider sponsorship requests throughout the year.
Prior to applying for funding organizations are encouraged to review Battelle’s Charitable Giving Guidelines and Application Instructions to:
- ensure their organization is eligible to receive funding,
- determine which type of funding to apply for, and
- review the application instructions.
