Partnerships
The world’s most challenging and compelling scientific problems are bigger than any single organization can tackle and require active collaborations to unravel and resolve. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s partnerships with universities are critical to success and benefit academic institutions around the globe.
University partnerships allow PNNL to tap unique resources and expertise, and cultivate the next generation of leaders. At the same time, universities gain access to top-notch instruments and expertise at the laboratory. PNNL is committed to collaborating with the best academic institutions and uses a variety of tools and pathways to facilitate research partnerships with them.
Joint appointments between PNNL and other research institutions provide new and diverse opportunities for researchers to expand their knowledge and impact. This distinctive opportunity allows for collaborations and impact that would not be possible outside of this formalized framework.
At PNNL, we also focus on collaborative research and STEM workforce development projects with Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to provide sustainable solutions for long-term impact in support of the Department of Energy’s efforts to diversify the future workforce. MSI partnerships serve as a catalyst to advance science while also building our capacity to create collective impact in the work we do with communities that have historically been underserved and underrepresented.
