Post Doctorate Research Associate

Dr. Nicole DiDonato is a postdoctoral research associate with the Metabolomics team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. Her research involves the study of natural organic matter in soils and water and the competing processes of carbon stabilization and mineralization. She primarily utilizes fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spec and nuclear magnetic resonance capabilities for molecular level characterization of natural organic matter to gain insight into these processes occurring at the interface between minerals, microbes, and plants.

Research Interests

  • Organic geochemistry

  • Environmental chemistry

  • Organic carbon and nutrient cycling

  • Organic matter-mineral-microbe interactions

  • PhD in Chemistry, Old Dominion University, 2017

  • BS in Environmental Engineering, University of Delaware, 2000
