Biography

Ciesielski is an applied mathematician and data scientist in the Computational Biology group on the Data Science & Biostatistics team with frequent collaborations with the National Security Directorate. She is the principal investigator of an m/q initiative sponsored project in machine learning assisted chemical characterization and collaborates on a team in the MARS initiative focused on network analysis for human-machine teaming. She's also working on time series analyses to support emulation of sensor data with appropriate statistical models. Before joining PNNL, her research focused on modeling nonlinear DNA amplification systems and has been published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface and SIAM Journal of Applied Mathematics. She worked in operations research for the U.S. Army Futures Command with an interest in game theory and decision analysis. She also spent time at pharmaceutical company Bend Research, Inc. working in modeling and simulation of systems of PDEs with a focus on thermodynamics and transport phenomena. Ciesielsk holds a PhD and MS in applied mathematics from Montana State University, along with a BS in mathematics education and a BA in communication from Purdue University.
