Seminar Abstract
The Magnox Swarf Storage Silos is a legacy waste storage facility at the Sellafield Nuclear Site in northwest England. Sellafield Ltd is removing the wastes from the building and exporting them to a modern storage system, but the historical leaks belowground mean considering the potential for leakage during waste retrieval activities. The seminar covered the leak management plan, in situ chemical treatment, groundwater capture, ex situ treatment, results from laboratory testing, and the potential benefits and detriments of these techniques. Sellafield Ltd is a Nuclear Decommissioning Authority company registered in England and Wales.
