Washington, D.C.
The Grid Controls and Communications (GCC) Division Program Review is taking place October 30–31, 2024, in Washington, D.C. The program review is hosted by the GCC Division of the Office of Electricity (OE) within the Department of Energy (DOE). This event is invite-only.
The GCC Division manages research, development, and demonstration programs aimed at modernizing the nation’s electricity delivery system including secure communications, controls, and protection systems. The division is responsible for engineering end-to-end systems for communications, grid modeling, measurement and controls, and operations and planning.
GCC programs are focused on advancing system modeling and planning, improving situational awareness and supporting grid operations, and developing technologies for secure operations of power systems. Projects in the division are planned and implemented in concert with partners including federal programs, electric utilities, and manufacturers, as well as regional, state, and local agencies, national laboratories, and universities. Coordination is critical to focusing federal efforts and ensuring that projects are aligned with public, private, local, and national needs.
The goal of this program review is to bring together stakeholders to discuss and gather feedback on the GCC Division's strategy for modernizing the future power grid to meet critical OE goals in reliability, resilience, security, and affordability. This event will:

Increase awareness among industry professionals, academia, and the national laboratories of the GCC research portfolio and strategy to meet OE goals.

Engage stakeholders in dialog to understand research priorities and potential gaps.

Identify opportunities for partnerships and alignment across government, university, industry, research, and local communities.
