Wind Energy Program Manager
Wind Energy Program Manager

Biography

Dr. Will Shaw manages the Wind Energy Program at PNNL. He is a boundary layer meteorologist with broad observational and analysis experience in marine and complex terrain boundary layers. Over more than three decades he has led research teams in multi-institutional and international field measurement programs and managed numerous research projects for the U.S. Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles. Most recently, Dr. Shaw has served as national laboratory representative on the Executive Management Committee of the Atmosphere to Electrons program in DOE’s Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO). In this role, he has provided coordination of atmospheric sciences research supporting wind energy across multiple DOE laboratories. Dr. Shaw also founded DOE’s lidar buoy program at PNNL and provides continuing technical support for WETO’s research program development, especially related to the significantly growing arena of offshore wind energy.
