Biography

Jingshan Du is currently a Washington Research Foundation postdoctoral fellow working with James J. De Yoreo at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Du received his PhD in materials science and engineering in 2021 from Northwestern University under the supervision of Professor Chad A. Mirkin and Professor Vinayak P. Dravid. In the same year, he received a certificate in Management for Scientists and Engineers from the Kellogg School of Management. In 2015, he received his bachelor of science degree in materials science and engineering from Chu Kochen Honors College, Zhejiang University. Dr. Du joined the State Key Laboratory of Silicon Materials in early 2013 to work with Hui Zhang and Deren Yang. In summer 2014, he visited the Duan Research Group led by Xiangfeng Duan at the University of California, Los Angeles, for two months. He was a visiting undergraduate at the Weitz Lab at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences during October 2014 and May 2015.

Dr. Du is interested in a broad range of topics across materials science and chemical physics. Recently, his research has focused on nanoscale phase transformation, complex nanoparticle systems, and correlated electron microscopy.
