Capabilities and Tools
Over its history, the TSP has developed a core set of publicly available capabilities and tools that have enabled PNNL and other researchers to effectively design, evaluate, and demonstrate transactive energy schemes. These capabilities include:
- Understanding the theoretical foundations of transactive energy and alternative coordination schemes by seeking to combine economic theory and control theory;
- Valuation analysis – Rigorously mapping and evaluating the value of coordination schemes so the benefits and costs can be determined from various stakeholder perspectives, otherwise known as valuation analysis;
- Large-scale multi-system, multi-disciplinary simulations of transactive implementations through use of PNNL’s Transactive Energy Simulation Platform (TESP); and
- Software templates and tools to standardize and accelerate field demonstrations.
