Join Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for our Pathway Summer School for the Department of Energy’s Office of Science's Reaching a New Energy Sciences Workforce (RENEW) initiative sponsored by the Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS). If you are interested in learning about renewable energy and exploring what it is like to be an intern at PNNL, this 4-week experience is ideal for you! You will participate in a culturally relevant, active learning experience that unpacks the science behind wind energy, hydropower, and marine energy.
About the Program
This immersive, cohort-based program introduces students to the teams at PNNL that conduct research in renewable energy science. The Pathway Summer School program provides students with mentoring, professional development, experiential learning, engaging field trips and tours, and conversations with leading experts in topics such as renewable energy, energy equity, and technology.
Students in this program will spend time either at the PNNL-Richland campus, PNNL’s main campus, or the PNNL-Sequim campus. The PNNL-Sequim campus houses the only marine research facility in the DOE system and is uniquely positioned for marine-based research such as sustainable energy, sustaining the environment, and coastal security. Students come away from the program with connections to and knowledge of a variety of STEM fields, as well as being equipped to pursue STEM internships in the future.
