Pathway Summer
Schools @ PNNL
Are you interested in learning about energy sciences, critical minerals and materials, and artificial intelligence while exploring what it is like to be an intern at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)? Our six-week Pathway Summer Schools (PSS) provide active learning experiences that unpack the science driving Department of Energy missions. Sponsored by Office of Science Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS), applications for experiences at the PNNL-Richland campus open in mid-January 2026.
These immersive, cohort-based programs introduce students to the teams at PNNL that conduct energy science, critical minerals and materials, and artificial intelligence (AI) research. The PSS programs provide students with mentoring, professional development, experiential learning, engaging tours, and conversations with leading experts.
