Recently, Sotiris Xantheas, a PNNL Laboratory Fellow and University of Washington-PNNL Distinguished Faculty Fellow, was awarded a fellowship by the Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program that will have him working alongside Dr. George Boulougouris within the Democritus University of Thrace’s Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in Alexandroupoli. Together, they will create curriculum and develop research collaborations aimed at conceiving novel approaches for modeling systems of biological interest.

Started in 2016, the Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program, managed by the Institute of International Education with the Fulbright Foundation in Greece and funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is part of an effort to develop long-term collaborations between universities in Greece and the United States while enhancing opportunities for Greek students.
