The Transactive Energy Network Template Metamodel

Abstract

Transactive energy systems discover marginal electricity prices using electricity markets or other mechanisms. The resulting prices help electricity consumers make informed decisions about their energy use and production and thereby make the electric grid more efficient. The Transactive Energy Network Template (TENT) Metamodel was designed to facilitate each agent's participation among a network of transactive energy system agents. Electricity prices derive from the prices that are applied by electricity suppliers and may be further affected by losses and transport constraints. This Version 4 includes a new appendix that describes how TENT has been extended to facilitate matching engine processes as an alternative means to discover electricity prices.
