Cybersecurity for Energy Resilience Summit (CyFERS) 2026

The 2026 Cybersecurity for Energy Resilience Summit (CyFERS) brought together nearly 120 state and territorial officials, utilities, federal agencies, national laboratories, and energy‑sector organizations for three days of hands-on training and strategic collaboration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hosted by the Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the summit expanded on the foundations set in 2025 by diving deeper into the real-world cyber risks facing the energy sector. North Central Regional Risk Assessment Workshop
August 25-27, 2025 | Madison, WI

PNNL and the Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response hosted an interactive workshop focused on regional energy risk, wildfire risk scenario planning, and collaborative emergency response strategies adapted to the North Central region (Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin). The workshop featured representatives from the Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources and was followed by the North Central Regional Wildfire Workshop for State Energy Security Planning. Cybersecurity for Energy Resilience (CyFERS) Summit

CyFERS was hosted by PNNL and the Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response to train state and territory officials on how to protect energy infrastructure from cyber threats. The workshop was hosted with support from the National Association of State Energy Officials, the National Governors Association, and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, and input from the National Emergency Managers Association and the National Conference of State Legislators to advance national security via engagement with state officials.
