Cybersecurity for Energy Resilience Summit (CyFERS) 2026
Working together to secure the nation’s energy infrastructure

The 2026 Cybersecurity for Energy Resilience Summit (CyFERS) brought together nearly 120 state and territorial officials, utilities, federal agencies, national laboratories, and energy‑sector organizations for three days of hands-on training and strategic collaboration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hosted by the Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the summit expanded on the foundations set in 2025 by diving deeper into the real-world cyber risks facing the energy sector. Participants explored the evolving threat landscape and utility cybersecurity operations and field-tested approaches to strengthening preparedness, incident response, and long-term resilience.
Throughout the event, attendees examined cybersecurity challenges across the full energy ecosystem—from oil and natural gas security to supply chain practices, cyber insurance, workforce development, and the role of AI in human‑machine collaboration. In alignment with the nation’s cyber strategy to secure critical infrastructure and build cyber talent, CyFERS 2026 equipped participants with actionable insights to turn national priorities into on-the-ground improvements.
