Teresa Palazzo
Biography
Dr. Teresa Palazzo is a chemist with the Metabolomics team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program She has experience in a range of specialties from organic synthesis and quantum chemical modelling, to large scale environmental and human health-driven omics research. Her varied background gives her the ability to approach problems from multiple angles and to communicate between teams of scientists from diverse backgrounds. Palazzo aims to be part of a global team working toward a better society with innovative methods and multidisciplinary collaborations.
Since joining PNNL, Palazzo has worked primarily with the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) capability in EMSL. She has been a part of many NMR-based metabolomics studies including, but not limited to, plant extract, E. coli growth, and fungal culture profiling with a wide variety of aims, and NMR dissolved organic matter and soil organic matter characterization. Additionally, she has helped develop experimental enrichment strategies for O-GlcNAcylated and phosphorylated peptides in a large-scale heart disease study.
