Biography

Nathan Canfield has more than two decades of experience in ceramic processing development, with a focus on development of planar structures for use in solid-oxide fuel cells, membrane research, and large-scale energy storage. His background also includes mechanical properties and mechanical testing of ceramics and glass. 

He stewards a JEOL 5900LV Scanning Electron Microscope and is one of four qualified users of a JEOL JSM 7001F LV Scanning Electron Microscope on the PNNL campus. Canfield conducts structural and chemical analysis of materials, both for his own research, and that of other PNNL researchers and groups. He has co-authored numerous publications and is listed as a co-inventor on a number of patents.
