Biography

Kathleen Judd is the deputy division director of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division, an organization of more than 400 staff members accelerating the transition to a decarbonized, efficient, resilient, and secure energy system through applied research. Judd partners with the division leadership team to shape its research strategy and operations, with a focus on maintaining research facilities and equipment, recruitment and optimized workforce planning, career development and mentoring programs, and fostering an inclusive workplace. 

As a research leader, Judd emphasizes the integrated role of technology, institutional policy, and human behavior to achieve energy efficiency and resilience objectives. She has worked with various federal agencies on program design and planning for efficient, resilient buildings. She serves as technical advisor for PNNL's own Net Zero Emissions and Energy Resilient Operations (NZERO) campus initiative. 

Judd also serves as chair of the Seattle leadership team, which guides PNNL’s institutional strategy and actions that enable PNNL to thrive in SeattleSituated in Seattle’s bustling South Lake Union, PNNL-Seattle is home to more than 300 employees and dozens of interns and postdoctoral research associates, spanning the Laboratory’s national security, energy, and environmental mission spaces.
