Facility
Oil Laboratory at PNNL-Sequim
PNNL-Sequim is home to the Oil Laboratory, which is equipped to measure physical and bulk-chemical properties of oil in water or ice. This space has analytical capabilities that complement the experimental work in the Hyperbaric Laboratory, Arctic Laboratory, and Biotechnology Laboratory. Some research capabilities include:
- hydrocarbon quantification (with the InfraCal 2 Model ATR-SP)
- hydrocarbon identification/profiling [Agilent 6890N GC interfaced to an Agilent 5973 inert MS using electron impact (EI) in selective ion monitoring (SIM) mode]
- surface tension (ramé-hart 590-U1 Advanced Automated Goniometer/Tensiometer).
