Staff scientist Vijayakumar “Vijay” Murugesan has been named a next-generation leader at the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR), one of the DOE Energy Innovation Hubs. He is a focus area lead for JCESR’s interfacial science thrust, which involves leading the scientific efforts among several labs in multiple institutions. As a part of JCESR, he has performed unique, in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to capture the spatial-chemical imaging of solid-liquid electrochemical interfacial processes. The mission of JCESR is to design and build transformative materials enabling next-generation batteries. Murugesan has 15 years of experience in analyzing energy storage materials using multimodal spectroscopy.
