Project Impacts
The outcome of this project draws a significant amount of attention from the industry. The following impacts are highlighted.
- Project team member attended multiple international and domestic conferences on power system research, including 2018 IEEE PES General Meeting, 2018&2019 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Conferences, NERC Load Model Task Force (LMTF) meetings and WECC LMTF meetings. The PNNL team presented their latest research progress and results. The presentations were well received.
- PNNL has released an open-source LMDT program for industry users to generate dynamic simulation parameters of WECC composite load model. The LMDT program has been used by multiple utilities including WECC, ERCOT, BPA, Dominion, SCE, PG&E, Seattle City Light. The PNNL project team works closely with NERC, BPA, LBNL, and SLAC to facilitate adoption of the new composite load models by broader range of electrical utilities, especially on the East coast.
