The VTMX Program

Abstract

The Vertical Transport and Mixing (VTMX) program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the Environmental Meteorology Program (EMP) in the Office of Science. The goals of the EMP/VTMX program are to increase understanding of the mechanisms responsible for vertical transport and mixing in the atmosphere; improve the ability to measure quantities required for this understanding; and develop improved treatments of vertical transport and mixing for use in conceptual and numerical models.
