Reactive transport calculations of a sliding in situ precipitation (SLIP) concept were validated with a set of pressurized unsaturated flow (PUF) experiments. A counter-flow injection strategy was shown to be very effective in controlling the location of a calcite precipitation front and thus could be used to maximize utilization of reservoir capacity for permanent carbon sequestration via mineral trapping.
