Plasma discharges in diesel simulated exhaust gas oxidize NO primarily to NO2 while formaing aldehydes andother partial-oxidation products from hydrocarbons. Appropriate catalysts can react NOx and aldehydes in the presence of oxygen, producing nitrogen.
