A three-phase epoxy-based composite with randomly distributed Ag nanoparticles and BaTiO3 particles was synthesized in this work. By integrating Ag nanoparticles into the epoxy resin, the dielectric properties of the resin is significantly enhanced, which provides an ideal host for further mixing with BaTiO3 to prepare high-dielectric-constant polymer-based dielectrics. The devices that adopt these composites demonstrate high relative dielectric constants (er ˜ 450) at room temperature, which is 110 times higher than that of the epoxy matrix. These nanocomposites were found with potential to be applied in the embedded capacitor applications.
