The Synthesis of Transition Metal Nitrides via Thermolysis of Metal-Ammine Complexes: Part 1. Chromium Nitride

Abstract

The thermal decomposition of chromium hexamine chloride in both helium and ammonia gas has been investigated by thermogravimmetric and differential thermal analysis (TGA and DTA) and intermediate reaction products have been examined via Fourier transform infared spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction in an effort to understand how ammonolyis of this nitride precursor takes place.
