Synchrophasor Calculation Algorithm Based on Robust State Estimation

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel robust state estimation based method for synchrophasor calculation. The proposed method upgrades traditional weighted least square based state estimation to a robust state estimation that uses iteratively re-weighted least square. As a result, it can better filter out measurement noise and reject bad data from synchrophasors. Numerical experiments are tested to compare the proposed method with existing IEEE C37.118 standard. Extensive results have demonstrated the great accuracy and dependability of proposed method when processing synchrophasor with measurement noises or bad data.
