Quantifying the Potential of Argon Detection Capabilities for Nuclear Explosion Monitoring

Abstract

Current noble gas detection systems for nuclear explosion monitoring are based on the detection of four radioxenon isotopes – 131mXe, 133Xe, 133mXe, 135Xe. This work quantifies the capabilities of a hypothetical 37Ar detection network and shows that a 37Ar detection network could be a useful addition to a radioxenon detection network.
