The objective of this document is to support the DMC initiative’s research on hardware and software development. Our focus is on the power grid domain that has a rich diversity of numerical and computationally challenging applications. Through this document, we highlight two core building blocks, power flow, and transient stability equations, for power grid applications.
Improving computational robustness and acceleration of these core blocks will tremendously benefit all power grid applications. We also highlight the most computationally dominant numerical kernels that are being used in power flow and transient stability.
