Opportunities for Dispatchable Power Projects in the New England Independent System Operator Area

Abstract

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has conducted an investigation into the feasibility of installing a battery energy storage system (BESS) behind-the-meter (BTM) at a military base located in the ISO-NE area. This report presents the findings of this assessment. In addition to the bill-reducing benefits of storage, dispatchable power could also provide potentially high-value resiliency benefits. These resiliency benefits were not evaluated here.
