A New Binder for Powder Injection Molding Titanium and Other Reactive Metals

Abstract

We have developed a powder injection molding feedstock specifically for reactive metals, such as titanium. Because the feedstock binder contains only a small volume fraction of polymeric binder, thermal removal is accomplished more effectively and the subsequent level of carbon impurity in the final as-sintered part is minimized.
