A multistep enrichment process with custom growth medium improves resuscitation of chlorine-stressed coliforms from secondary sewage effluents

Abstract

Resuscitation and detection of stressed coliforms in treated water samples is needed to assess and prevent health effects from adverse exposure. In this study, we developed a custom growth media that improved total coliform resuscitation from chlorine-stressed samples from secondary effluent to see if detection time could be reduced from 18 to 8 hours.
