Mechanical Properties for Irradiated Zircaloy

Abstract

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) was tasked with collecting Zircaloy mechanical property data from the open literature and with developing irradiated mechanical properties for Zircaloy cladding for the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The irradiated Zircaloy mechanical properties are used for evaluating high burnup fuel performance in-reactor with the FRAPCON-3 [1] and FRAPTRAN [2] codes and for evaluating mechanical performance of high burnup spent fuel during accidents.
