The results of scientific research are most often reported at society meetings, or in journal articles. However, certain particularly dramatic findings are also reported by the media and prove to be of great interest to the general public. Developments in medical research and new treatments for disease have been widely disseminated by the media. This is not surprising, but it is interesting to note the reactions of the public to specific research results.
