A process improvement that adds more efficiency than most financial managers realize is to have each responsible budget manager directly input their business plan and budget request into a data base through a web site. This "web input window" allows budget managers and their support staff to input directly themselves, eliminating the need for central business planning and budgeting staff to upload the numerous budget requests. And it can be made very user friendly with prompts to assist the budget managers, so they do not need the help of administrative assistants. Hence, roughly two people can be cut out of a three person process, to achieve a higher quality and more timely business plan and budget.
