The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (Pacific Northwest) has been using an inventory-based method to determine radionuclide air emission monitoring requirements for the research facilities they operate that contain radioactive material. This method requires an annual collection of inventory information for each facility from custodians and from centralized databases developed for other purposes. Efforts are underway to develop a Radioactive Material Tracking System to obtain the inventory information used in the annual assessment and to consolidate radionuclide inventory data to comply with a number of other regulatory drivers
