Imaging and Identification Technologies for Homeland Security

Abstract

This is a book chapter to complement a lecture at the Summer School of the Health Physics Society, July 6-9, 2004, at the Green Auditorium on the NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This chapter presents PNNL's millimeter wave RF imaging, Ultrasonic Pulse Echo, and eddy current Materials Identification System technologies in its nonionizing radiation section. In the ionizing radiation section, it presents transmission and backscatter x-ray imaging technologies, x-ray fluorescence, and muon imaging.
