This document introduces the Hawaiian Electric Companies Demand Response Tool, which was developed at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The battery storage evaluation tool by PNNL was modified to run one-year simulations that evaluate the benefits of behind-the-meter behind-the-meter photovoltaics and storage from the customer perspective, while optimizing use of these assets to minimize customer energy bills and improve reliability.
