To help make sense of the commercial lighting energy codes in most states, this article focuses on the requirements of the two most common codes: ASHRAE 90.1-2004 and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) 2003. The comparison of these two documents illustrates what a builder or renovator will likely need to address in the lighting energy requirements for their project. Differences with other commonly adopted national codes are also noted.
