DOE’s Solution Center: A Builder’s Best Friend

Abstract

This article for the National Association of Home Builders NAHB Now blog, describes the Building America Solution Center, a free website tool developed and maintained by PNNL for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program. The BASC contains installation guidance, code compliance information, climate and safety concerns, and training aids on hundreds of residential construction topics ranging from air sealing and insulation to HVAC, windows, indoor air quality, and more. The article informs NAHB's stakeholders, which include residential builders, contractors, appraisers, code officials, and realtors, on how the BASC can help them get homes certified to national programs like ENERGY STAR, DOE ZERH, and Indoor airPLUS; train installers; resolve code issues; and inform consumers about energy efficient home construction. The article will be distributed by the NAHB, through their website http://nahbnow.com/
