Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste Physical Property and Analyte Measurement Reduction

Abstract

Processing of low-activity waste feed will occur at the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP). In support of plant operations, and per requirements from the WTP contract, feed sample analyses will occur at least 18,000 times per year generating over 7,000 liters of waste. The analytical measurements are often complicated by issues such as lack of standards, low concentrations, and difficult separations. Previous work has been completed to suggest removal of physical property and elemental analyses from required measurements and this document summarizes that work.
