Tape casting, lamination and co-sintering were used to prepare anode-supported YSZ membranes. Optimization of the co-sintering conditions and tape compositions resulted in gas-tight YSZ membranes and highly porous anode substrates. To complete the cell fabrication, cathodes were screen-printed onto the YSZ membranes and sintered. I-V testing and microstructural analysis of single cells was used to evaluate and improve cell performance (i.e., power density and lifetime).
