Analysis of Federal Agency Facility Energy Reduction Potential and Goal-Setting Approaches in 2025

Abstract

This study is intended to inform recommendations for federal facility energy reduction goals for the 2016-2015 period. It includes analysis of federal agency performance toward the current goal to reduce energy use intensity 30% as well as the energy savings potential from retrofits to existing federal buildings and the addition of newly constructed facilities to the federal building stock. Alternative approaches to setting future targets and establishing baseline years are discussed.
