Allocation Management Solutions for High Performance Computing

Abstract

High Performance Computing sites face unique problems due to the large number of projects and users competing for their resources. The use of an allocation manager can help alleviate some of these problems. This paper addresses some typical allocation problems faced by HPC managers and describes some possible solutions. The Gold Allocation Manager is presented as a case-study that implements a subset of the described solutions
