PNNL's Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for the next generation of scientists and engineers who will push the boundaries of research and development, generating world-recognized discoveries.

Pauling Fellows are equipped with the resources to carry out a research program of their own design while benefiting from mentoring by internationally recognized researchers. They will devise cutting-edge approaches, utilize and build state-of-science capabilities, and guide research efforts that advance scientific frontiers and address pressing concerns for the nation.

Program Information

The Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships at PNNL provide full funding to selected candidates to pursue a major research project of their own conception. Applicants submit a detailed and original proposal describing their research plans and anticipated outcomes. Key Dates and Application Information

Applications are open from August 1, 2025 through November 1, 2025 at 5 p.m. PDT. The Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship at PNNL is for qualified recent and upcoming PhD graduates in science and engineering who wish to conduct research on a project of their choice. 

Qualified candidates must have completed a PhD in a science or engineering field related to the mission areas of PNNL from an accredited college or university within the last three years or prior to the start of the fellowship. All staff at PNNL must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
