Adaptive Tunability for Synthesis and Control via Autonomous Learning on Edge (AT SCALE) is an interdisciplinary Pacific Northwest National Laboratory initiative aimed at transforming materials synthesis by developing closed-loop autonomous precision synthesis.

AT SCALE currently has nine projects spanning three thrust areas that represent key technical challenges within an autonomous synthesis framework. They highlight the broad, material-agnostic priorities of the initiative goals.

AT SCALE projects have been intentionally designed to encompass crosscutting ideas, building connections across the autonomous loop. This encourages collaboration and engagement across disciplines and teams which is necessary for developing translatable loop frameworks.

AT SCALE involves more than 60 researchers across multiple domains, including computer science, data science, materials science, and chemistry.
