Biography

Veronica Wilson is an Advisor in the Nuclear Material Storage, Transportation and Logistics Group at PNNL. She joined PNNL in March of 2022. Prior to joining PNNL, she worked for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for 15 years in the division of fuel management, reviewing criticality safety and shielding analyses to support transportation and storage applications containing spent nuclear fuel and radioactive material. Prior to this, she worked for five years in the NRC’s office of nuclear reactor regulation, reviewing operating and advanced reactor licensing amendments related to reactor systems.

At PNNL, she primarily works with DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) integrated waste management (IWM) team to research solutions for storage and transportation of operating and advanced reactor spent nuclear fuel. She works on the STANDARDS spent nuclear fuel data and analysis tool (formerly UNF-ST&DARDS) code development team, including the GC-859 spent nuclear fuel data collection effort. Her current work includes performing dose calculations for spent nuclear fuel and developing automated tools to calculate when spent nuclear fuel meets regulatory requirements.
