Biography

Tom Grimes is a data scientist in the Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Technologies (NCBT) Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He is a leader in the field of data science, and his current work focuses on application and characterization of large language models (LLM) and multimodal foundation models for a variety of U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. government missions. Grimes is the science lead and Applied GenAI thrust lead for the PNNL Generative AI Laboratory Directed Research and Development investment, applying generative artificial intelligence (AI) across the breadth of science and security missions through dozens of efforts.
