Tanya Myers
Tanya Myers
Biography
Tanya Myers is a physical chemist in the Physical Sciences Division and is the team lead for the Spectroscopy and Analysis group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). Her research focuses on understanding the reflectance and emittance spectra of materials for standoff chemical detection. This research has enabled the development of high-fidelity infrared spectral libraries that are used for environmental and national security-related applications. Her research is published in various journals such as Applied Optics, Journal of Physical Chemistry, and Applied Spectroscopy. She is active in both the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) and Optica, and has served as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives Sensing conference chair for the SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing conference, and the Applied Industrial Spectroscopy chair for the Optica Sensing Congress. She joined the editorial board for Optical Engineering in 2022. Prior to joining PNNL, she was a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow with the National Institute of Standards and Technology at JILA at the University of Colorado Boulder. Tanya holds a PhD and MS in chemistry from the University of Chicago, and a BS in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
