Susan has 30 years of professional news gathering and communications experience. Once a reporter, always a reporter, Susan’s favorite part of working at PNNL is learning something new every day from the researchers who dedicate themselves to making the world a better place. Writing about that research—ranging from environmental cleanup and ways to make the power grid more resilient to security technologies that keep us all safer—is her passion. She focuses on telling these stories to external audiences and, for many years, worked with reporters to expand understanding of the Laboratory’s mission and contributions to society.
Susan began her career as a statewide news anchor in Montana. She’s worked in visual communications for a large utility, directed a chamber of commerce, provided executive communications at a university, and developed scripts for Fortune 500 companies as part of a multimedia production company. Coming full circle in her career, Susan also enjoys pre-production and scripting videos at PNNL.
